ЩЕНКИ is a pivotal project in the Russian independent scene, formed in 2015 by two prolific figures: Felix Bondarev (the mastermind behind RSAC and a former collaborator with Brian Jonestown Massacre) and poet Maxim Tesli. The duo's sound identity is defined by a 'dirty' aesthetic that merges the rhythmic simplicity of early drum machines with the aggressive textures of noise rock and post-punk.

Bondarev's production is intentionally monotonous and saturated, providing a cold, industrial backdrop for Tesli's highly emotional and often controversial lyrics. Their career arc has seen them maintain a consistent cult following by leaning into a 'no-filter' persona that rejects polished pop sensibilities in favor of raw, street-level realism. Critically, they are viewed as heirs to the Russian 'existential' rock tradition, updated for the digital age with elements of abstract hip-hop and electronic dance music. Their influence is significant among younger Russian post-punk bands who prioritize lyrical honesty and lo-fi grit over technical perfection.
