Formed in 2013 in Kirov, Russia, Чёрная речка (Chernaya Rechka) emerged as a key fixture in the second wave of the Russian post-punk revival. The band was formed by veterans of the local underground scene, bringing a refined craftsmanship to a genre often defined by raw amateurism.

Their sound identity is rooted in the intersection of UK post-punk (Joy Division, The Sound) and the melodic melancholy of 1980s Soviet rock (Kino). Their career arc has seen them evolve from the raw, lo-fi energy of their early 'Storona' EPs to the more polished and conceptually cohesive 'V etom severnom...' and 'O'.
