Durnoy Vkus is a pivotal project in the contemporary Russian post-punk and 'doomer-wave' scene, originating from St. Petersburg in 2018.

Led by Andrey Samosadny, the project emerged during a massive resurgence of guitar-based melancholy in Eastern Europe, bridging the gap between the aggressive bleakness of traditional Siberian punk and the polished, melodic sensibilities of Western dream pop. Their sound identity is defined by high-register melodic basslines, heavy use of chorus effects on guitars, and a 'bedroom' production aesthetic that emphasizes intimacy over hi-fi clarity. Culturally, they are central to a digital-native generation that finds romanticism in the brutalist architecture and gray skies of post-Soviet cities. Critically, they are praised for their ability to write genuine pop hooks without sacrificing the subterranean, darkwave atmosphere that defines their genre. They represent a more 'pop-adjacent' and accessible branch of the scene compared to peers like Ploho, focusing on atmosphere and texture as much as rhythmic drive.
