Wagon Cookin'

Wagon Cookin' is the project of Spanish brothers Javier and Luis Garayalde, whose work represents a pivotal bridge between the European nu jazz movement and South American rhythmic traditions. Emerging from a background of rigorous classical and jazz training, the duo transitioned into the electronic sphere in the late 1990s, quickly becoming staples of the Compost Records and G-Stone aesthetic.

Their sound identity is defined by high-fidelity production, a preference for live instrumentation over static loops, and a sophisticated use of the Rhodes piano and varied percussion. A significant career turning point occurred during their residency in Brazil, which fundamentally altered their rhythmic DNA, moving them away from standard house 4/4 patterns toward the complex 'broken beat' and bossa nova structures found in their mid-2000s output.
