Jittery, glitch-laden pop that pairs deadpan vocals with abrasive, repetitive rhythms. It is the sound of a modern panic attack turned into a dance party.
Water From Your Eyes sounds like a beautiful pop song being disassembled by a malfunctioning robot in real time. Their music is built on a foundation of hypnotic, often punishing repetition, where guitar loops and drum machine patterns collide in ways that feel both accidental and mathematically precise. It is music that demands your attention by being slightly uncomfortable, yet it never loses its sense of melody or its strange, twitchy charm.
What truly sets them apart is the contrast between Rachel Brown’s cool, detached vocal delivery and Nate Amos’s chaotic, maximalist production. While the music might be screaming with industrial noise or jagged synth lines, the vocals remain calm, offering wry observations and surrealist poetry. This tension creates a listening experience that feels like being in the eye of a very stylish storm, where the chaos is curated and the humor is bone-dry.
Start with the album 'Everyone’s Crushed.' It perfectly captures their transition from bedroom-pop experimenters to masters of a new kind of 'dance-punk' that is as intellectual as it is physical. It’s the ideal entry point for anyone who likes their pop music with a healthy dose of friction and a side of existential dread.
