We Are Wolves

We Are Wolves emerged from the fertile Montreal art-rock scene of the early 2000s, quickly distinguishing themselves with a sound they described as 'primitive.' Formed by Alexander Ortiz, Vincent Levesque, and Pierre-Luc Bégin, the trio bypassed traditional melodic structures in favor of rhythmic intensity and analog synth textures.

Their debut on Fat Possum Records signaled a bridge between North American garage-blues sensibilities and European electro-punk. Throughout their career, they have maintained a consistent aesthetic of 'honest' music, often performing in non-traditional spaces like art galleries and lofts, which reinforced their status as a visual-arts-adjacent musical project.
