Wear Your Wounds

Wear Your Wounds is the primary solo outlet for Jacob Bannon, best known as the frontman of the metallic hardcore pioneers Converge. While his main band is defined by speed and aggression, Wear Your Wounds explores the opposite pole: glacial tempos, atmospheric depth, and melodic vulnerability.

The project originated as a series of private lo-fi recordings spanning over a decade before debuting formally in 2017. Sonically, it sits at the intersection of slowcore (Codeine, Low), post-rock (Godspeed You! Black Emperor), and the darker side of singer-songwriter music (Leonard Cohen, Swans). The sound identity is defined by submerged vocal treatments, prominent use of melancholic piano, and a 'wall of sound' approach to reverb. Critically, the project is viewed as a successful transition from the visceral to the cerebral, proving Bannon's range as a composer. It has evolved from a solo bedroom project into a formidable live band featuring members of The Red Chord and Cave In, adding a more muscular, post-metal dynamic to the later recordings while maintaining the core of existential dread and catharsis.
