Weird Dreams

Weird Dreams is the creative vehicle for London-based musician Doran Edwards, whose career trajectory mirrors the evolution of the indie-pop underground in the 2010s. Initially formed as a duo with Craig Bowers, the band's early output, specifically the 2012 debut Choreography, was a cornerstone of the UK's jangle-pop revival.

This era was characterized by a 'California-soaked' sound that blended Beach Boys harmonies with the gritty, reverb-heavy production of the East London scene. Following a hiatus, Edwards relocated to Paris and reinvented Weird Dreams as a solo project. The resulting 2016 album, Luxury Alone, marked a significant shift toward 'hypnagogic' synth-pop, drawing heavy influence from the avant-pop of Broadcast and the minimalist textures of Ryuichi Sakamoto. This transition from guitar-driven psych-pop to meditative electronic soundscapes reflects a broader critical movement toward introspective, bedroom-produced art-pop.
