Wisborg

Wisborg is a German gothic rock and darkwave duo consisting of Konstantin Michaely and Nikolas Eckstein, formed in 2017. Their sound identity is a sophisticated blend of classic 80s gothic rock influences (The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission) and modern darkwave production.

They are particularly noted for their visual and conceptual debt to German Expressionist cinema, specifically the era of 'Nosferatu' (from which they take their name, referencing the fictional town). Since their debut, they have moved from the raw energy of 'The Tragedy of Seconds Gone' toward a more expansive, synth-integrated sound on albums like 'Into the Void'. Critically, they are praised for revitalizing the gothic rock genre by avoiding the 'retro' trap, instead using modern studio techniques to create a sound that is crisp, punchy, and club-ready. They occupy a central position in the contemporary European 'black scene,' frequently appearing at major festivals like Wave-Gotik-Treffen and Amphi Festival. Their work is characterized by a high degree of technical proficiency in both vocal delivery and multi-instrumental arrangement, making them a bridge between traditional goth fans and the newer dark-electronic audience.
