Aggressive, politically charged crust punk with a dark melodic edge. Raw dual vocals and d-beat rhythms for basement shows and late-night defiance.
Witch Hunt delivers a blistering, soot-covered brand of punk that feels like it was forged in the humid basements of the Northeast. Their sound is a heavy, driving intersection of crust punk's metallic weight and anarcho-punk's righteous indignation. It is music that doesn't just play; it lunges at the listener with a thick, distorted wall of sound that somehow maintains a sense of haunting melody beneath the grime.
What sets them apart is the vocal dynamic and the rhythmic density. By utilizing multiple members for vocal duties, they create a chaotic, conversational urgency that mirrors the collective nature of their politics. The guitars carry a dark, minor-key weight that leans into the 'stenchcore' lineage without losing the propulsive speed of traditional hardcore. It's a sound that is both claustrophobic and expansive, capturing the tension of urban decay.
For those new to the band, their middle-period work offers the best balance of their raw early energy and more sophisticated songwriting. It is the perfect soundtrack for moments of high-stakes activism or for anyone who finds comfort in the loudest, most honest corners of the underground.
