Yan Tregger, born Edouard Joseph Scotto Di Suoccio, is a pivotal figure in the French library music scene, bridging the gap between functional background music and avant-garde disco. His career began in the late 1960s under various pseudonyms, but his work as Yan Tregger in the 1970s remains his most influential.

Recording for labels like L'Illustration Musicale and Freesound, he developed a signature sound that combined tight jazz-funk rhythm sections with expansive, space-age synthesizer work. His collaborations with Jacky Giordano on the 'Schifters' LP represent a high-water mark for rare library funk. Tregger's evolution into the 'Major Symphony' and 'MBT Soul' projects saw him embracing the burgeoning disco movement, though he maintained a distinctive psychedelic edge that separated him from mainstream pop-disco.
