yelworC is a seminal German electro-industrial project formed in 1987 by Peter Devin and Dominik van Reich. They are widely credited with pioneering the 'dark electro' sound, a subgenre that moved away from the clean, pop-oriented structures of synth-pop toward a more sinister, atmospheric, and complex form of EBM.

Their name is a reverse spelling of occultist Aleister Crowley, signaling their deep interest in mysticism and ritual. The band's early work, particularly the album Brainstorming, set the standard for the use of horror-influenced sampling and dense, multi-layered synth arrangements. Following a split in the mid-90s, Devin continued the project solo, eventually releasing the ambitious Trinity in 2004, which began a cycle based on Dante's Divine Comedy.
