This is Origin before they became a machine, sounding like a very fast, very angry garage band.
Unrelenting, high-velocity aggression delivered with a raw, unpolished edge.
A Coming Into Existence is the debut EP from the American technical death metal outfit Origin, released in 1998. While the band would later become synonymous with 'gravity blasts' and ultra-clean, high-fidelity production, this early release showcases a much rawer, more visceral side of their sound. The EP features the core elements that would define them - extreme speed, sweep-picked arpeggios, and complex rhythmic shifts - but presents them through a lo-fi, demo-quality lens that emphasizes their roots in the mid-90s underground scene. Historically, this EP served as the catalyst for their signing to Relapse Records. The track 'Lethal Manipulation' would later be re-recorded for their self-titled debut, but the versions found here possess a unique, unhinged energy. It stands as a pivotal bridge between the brutal death metal of the early 90s and the technical explosion of the early 2000s.

Moments Worth Waiting For
The sudden transition into a gravity blast on track 2 that feels like a physical shove.
The bridge of track 4 where the bass guitar cuts through the grit with surprising clarity.
The chaotic, grindcore-influenced ending of track 9 that collapses into feedback.
