Embalmed Existence

Released in 1993 via Nuclear Blast, Embalmed Existence is the debut full-length from Resurrection and remains a cult classic of the Florida death metal scene. While many bands in the Tampa area focused solely on speed or gore, Resurrection experimented with a conceptual framework. The inclusion of 'The Storyteller' (Mark the Storyteller) gives the album a unique identity, framing the tracks as chapters in a descent into madness. Sonically, the album benefits from the legendary drumming of Alex Marquez (formerly of Solstice and Malevolent Creation) and the dual-guitar attack of John Astl and Charles Haines. The production is characteristic of the era - punchy, mid-heavy, and saturated with analog grit.
