A New Heartbeat

Released in early 2022, A New Heartbeat serves as a transitional EP for the legendary NWOBHM outfit Tygers of Pan Tang. Following a period of global lockdown and significant lineup changes - including the addition of guitarist Francesco Marras and bassist Huw Holding - the release acts as both a showcase for the new members and a bridge to their subsequent full-length work. The tracklist is strategically split: two brand new compositions ('A New Heartbeat' and 'Red Mist') and two re-recordings of tracks from their 1980 debut album Wild Cat ('Fireclown' and 'Killers'). Produced and mixed by Marco Angioni, the EP modernizes the band's signature dual-guitar attack with a punchy, contemporary sonic profile. Critical reception noted the seamless integration of Marras's technical flair into the band's established melodic metal framework, reinforcing their status as one of the few surviving NWOBHM pioneers still producing relevant new material.
