Ann is the second EP in The Front Bottoms' 'Grandmother' series, following 2014's Rose. Released in 2018, the EP consists of six re-recorded versions of songs from the band's early, unreleased, or self-released catalog. Named after Brian Sella's grandmother, the project serves as a curated retrospective, bringing professional studio production to tracks like 'Lonely Eyes' and 'Pale Beneath the Tan (Squeeze)' which had previously only existed in lo-fi formats. Sonically, the EP reflects the band's evolution on Fueled by Ramen, incorporating more diverse instrumentation including synthesizers and horns while maintaining the signature 'talk-sung' vocal delivery and aggressive acoustic strumming.
