Benny and the Jetts

Released in July 2011, Benny and the Jetts is a foundational EP in TV Girl's discography, arriving shortly after their self-titled debut and further refining their signature sample-collage aesthetic. While the band would later achieve massive viral success on platforms like TikTok, this EP represents their early 'Bandcamp era' - a time characterized by a more overt reliance on 1960s soul and girl-group samples. The title track famously utilizes a distinctive loop that showcases Brad Petering’s ability to find rhythmic hooks in dusty archives. Sonically, the EP leans into 'hypnagogic pop' territory, utilizing lo-fi production techniques to evoke a sense of false memory.
