Beyond Quantum

Recorded in 2008 for John Zorn’s Tzadik label, Beyond Quantum represents a monumental meeting between Anthony Braxton, William Parker, and Milford Graves. While Braxton is often associated with his 'Ghost Trance' and 'Composition' series which utilize complex graphic notation, this album captures him in a rare, purely improvisational setting. Graves, a pioneer of 'free' drumming who famously studied the relationship between music and the human heartbeat, provides a non-linear rhythmic foundation that allows Parker and Braxton to explore vast sonic territories.
