Released in 2014, Danger's self-titled debut stands as a premier example of the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM) movement, specifically the Swedish branch which leans heavily into melodic hard rock and glam influences. While many of their peers focused on the darker, occult-driven sounds of early Mercyful Fate or Iron Maiden, Danger looked toward the commercial peak of the mid-80s, blending the grit of early Mötley Crüe with the melodic sophistication of Europe or Treat. The album is characterized by its use of 'gang vocals' in almost every chorus, a production choice that emphasizes its anthemic nature. Despite its late release date, the recording techniques mimic the 1980s studio style, utilizing tape-like saturation and a wide stereo field for the guitars. Critically, it is often cited as a 'cult classic' within the underground Swedish scene for its refusal to modernize its sound, maintaining a strict adherence to the tropes of the genre's golden age.
