Released in early 1992, the Digeridoo EP stands as one of Richard D. James's most aggressive and club-oriented early releases under the Aphex Twin moniker. The title track, famously constructed without actual samples of a didgeridoo, showcases James's technical ingenuity as he spent three days synthesizing a convincing electronic facsimile of the instrument's continuous, circular-breathing drone. This drone is paired with frantic, high-BPM breakbeats designed to exhaust dancers at Cornish raves. The EP also compiles early tracks like 'Isoprophlex' alongside new, heavier material like 'Flaphead' and 'Phloam', which lean heavily into industrial textures and acid techno.
