First Diagnosis

First Diagnosis is the debut EP from the Austrian crossover thrash outfit Insanity Alert, released in 2012. While the band would later become staples of the European festival circuit, this release captures them in their rawest form. Sonically, it is heavily indebted to the 'Big Four' of thrash as well as crossover pioneers like Municipal Waste and D.R.I. The production is surprisingly punchy for a debut EP, emphasizing a crisp guitar tone and prominent gang vocals that have since become the band's signature. Lyrically, the album leans into pop-culture parody and horror tropes, notably in tracks like 'Blood Beach' and 'Cruified by Zombies.' The closing track, 'Run to the Pit,' serves as both a mission statement and a clever nod to heavy metal history, cementing their place in the modern thrash revival movement.
