Formshifter

Formshifter, released in 2012, represents a pivotal moment in Allegaeon's discography, serving as their first release to break onto the Billboard charts. While the band is known for their partnership with producer Dave Otero, Formshifter is notable as the only album in their catalog not produced by him, resulting in a slightly different, perhaps sharper sonic profile. The recording was a transitional period for the lineup, featuring session drummer J.P. Andrade, whose performance is remarkably tight and sympathetic to the band's complex time signatures. The album is anchored by the guitar duo of Greg Burgess and Ryan Glisan, whose neoclassical influences and flamenco-inspired acoustic breaks became a hallmark of the Allegaeon sound.
