Hated On Mostly

Released in early 2007, Hated On Mostly serves as the second and final studio album from the Atlanta collective Crime Mob. Following the massive underground success of their debut, this project saw the group refining their 'crunk' sound under the executive production of Lil Scrappy and with contributions from genre titans like Lil Jon and DJ Montay. The album is most notable for the crossover hit 'Rock Yo Hips,' which showcased a more melodic, dance-oriented side of the group without sacrificing their signature grit. Sonically, the record is a masterclass in minimalist Southern production, utilizing sparse synth loops and heavy compression to maximize the impact of the percussion. Despite internal group tensions that would eventually lead to their hiatus, the chemistry on tracks like 'Shine Cause I Grind' and 'Circles' remains palpable.
