I Am Become Christmas

Released on the winter solstice of 2012, I Am Become Christmas represents a transitional moment for Neil Cicierega's Lemon Demon project. Positioned between the chaotic energy of View-Monster and the polished, conceptual brilliance of Spirit Phone, this EP showcases a more focused exploration of mood and atmosphere. While the lyrics still lean into the surreal and the humorous, there is a newfound maturity in the arrangement, particularly in the use of vocal layering and synth textures to evoke a specific seasonal feeling. The tracks range from the driving synth-pop of 'Christmas Will Be Soon' to the more melancholic and reflective 'SAD'. The EP has gained a cult following within the Lemon Demon fanbase, often cited as a precursor to the 'analog horror' aesthetic that would define much of Cicierega's later influence on internet culture. Its 2018 remaster by Needlejuice Records further highlighted the intricate production details that were previously obscured by its lo-fi origins.
