Released in 1977 as the follow-up to the massive success of Breezin', In Flight solidified George Benson's status as a multi-platinum crossover star. Produced by Tommy LiPuma and recorded by Al Schmitt at the legendary Capitol Studios, the album represents the pinnacle of high-fidelity 1970s production. While critics at the time, including some at BBC Music, occasionally debated his shift from pure jazz to a more commercial soul-pop sound, the technical execution remains beyond reproach.
