Lamentations

Released in 2016, Lamentations served as the critical bridge between Moses Sumney's early lo-fi folk experiments and the maximalist art-pop of his debut LP, Aromanticism. While technically an EP, it functions as a cohesive sonic statement on the theme of 'aromanticism' and the complexities of human connection. The project is notable for its heavy reliance on the Boss RC-300 Loop Station, which Sumney used to build complex, multi-layered arrangements in real-time. The track 'Lonely World' features contributions from Thundercat and Ian Chang, marking a pivotal moment where Sumney's sound expanded from intimate bedroom folk into aggressive, avant-garde territory.
