Released in September 2014, Praise Break served as the definitive introduction to Daniel Caesar's unique blend of soul and spirituality. While his later work would lean into more polished neo-soul, this EP is characterized by its experimental 'alternative R&B' edge and lo-fi textures. The project heavily utilizes gospel-style vocal layering (multi-voice) to create a communal atmosphere within a solo context, a technique that would become a career hallmark.
