More Inspirations

Released in 2023, More Inspirations is the second volume of cover songs from Saxon, following 2021's Inspirations. While many veteran bands use covers as filler, Saxon utilizes these sessions to showcase the specific influences that birthed the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The tracklist is a curated journey through 1960s and 70s rock, featuring heavy-handed reinterpretations of The Animals, Alice Cooper, and KISS. Recorded with a live-in-the-room energy, the album highlights the enduring chemistry between Biff Byford and long-time guitarist Paul Quinn (in one of his final studio appearances before retiring from touring). The standout track 'The Faith Healer' (Sensational Alex Harvey Band) demonstrates the band's ability to handle atmospheric, longer-form arrangements, while 'Razamanaz' showcases their ability to out-muscle the original hard rock pioneers. Critically, the album was received as a fun, high-quality supplement to their 2022 studio triumph Carpe Diem.
