Morning Grooves

Released in 2009, Morning Grooves is the definitive solo statement from Italian bassist and composer Alessandro Bottura. The album was born out of Bottura's daily morning practice routines at his home in Italy, where he developed technical exercises into full-fledged compositions. This 'morning' context is central to the album's identity, providing a bright, energetic character that distinguishes it from the broader jazz fusion landscape. Bottura, a graduate of the DAMS in Bologna, performed nearly all the instrumentation himself, resulting in a cohesive sound where the bass is the 'prince' of the mix.
