Secrets

Released in 1976, Secrets serves as a direct evolution of the sound Herbie Hancock established on Man-Child. While its predecessor was split between high-energy funk and laid-back tracks, Secrets leans heavily into a relaxed, 'summery' mood. A defining characteristic of the album is the increased prominence of electric guitar, specifically the contributions of Motown session legend Wah Wah Watson, whose rhythmic style becomes a central pillar of the arrangements.
