Mr Ego (Take Me Down) EP

Released in July 1994, the Mr Ego (Take Me Down) EP served as the primary teaser for Helloween's sixth studio album, 'Master of the Rings'. It is historically significant as the first official release to feature vocalist Andi Deris and drummer Uli Kusch, marking the end of the band's commercial and critical slump following 'Chameleon'. The title track was reportedly written as a pointed critique of former vocalist Michael Kiske, reflected in its biting lyrics about arrogance and isolation. Sonically, the EP showcases a shift toward a more hard-rock-influenced power metal style, characterized by Deris's signature 'dirty' vocal delivery and a more prominent, driving bass presence.
