Mr. Finish Line

Mr. Finish Line, released in 2017, represents Vulfpeck's third full-length studio effort and a significant expansion of their collaborative circle. While earlier releases focused heavily on the core four members, this album features an impressive roster of guests including Bootsy Collins, David T. Walker, and James Gadson, effectively bridging the gap between the band's indie-funk roots and the legends who inspired them. The recording maintains the band's signature 'Vulf' sound: minimalist arrangements, analog warmth, and Joe Dart's hyper-active, finger-style bass playing. Critically, it was seen as a more polished and pop-accessible version of their sound, featuring more structured songwriting and vocal-forward tracks like 'Birds of a Feather' and 'Running Away.'
