Naïve

Released in 1990, Naïve is the fifth studio album by KMFDM and arguably their most critically acclaimed work. Recorded in Hamburg following a formative US tour with Ministry, it marks the band's official signing to the legendary Wax Trax! Records. Sonically, the album is a masterclass in industrial sampling. It famously features unauthorized samples from Carl Orff's 'O Fortuna' on the track 'Liebeslied' and Slayer's 'Angel of Death' on 'Godlike.' These legal entanglements led to the album being recalled and out of print for years, making original pressings highly sought after by collectors. Critics, including those from AllMusic and Pitchfork, have hailed it as a foundational text of the industrial genre, praising its ability to bridge the gap between thrash metal and electronic body music (EBM).
