New Grass Revival

Released in 1972 on the Starday label, the self-titled debut from New Grass Revival is the foundational text of the progressive bluegrass movement. Formed from the ashes of Bluegrass Alliance, the original lineup featured Sam Bush, Courtney Johnson, Curtis Burch, and Ebo Walker. This specific record is notable for its inclusion of rock and roll covers, such as Jerry Lee Lewis's 'Great Balls of Fire,' which served as a manifesto for their 'newgrass' philosophy.
