Recorded in 2005 when Ronnie Day was only sixteen years old, Nine Sleepless Nights is a foundational document of the bedroom-pop movement that flourished on MySpace. The album was famously tracked during a single week of insomnia in Day's California home, a context that directly informs its title and its exhausted, ethereal sonic character. Unlike the more polished studio efforts of his later career, this debut is defined by its technical limitations and emotional immediacy.
