Quiet World

Released in 2015, Quiet World is the debut and only studio album by Native Construct, a trio formed while the members were students at Berklee College of Music. The album is a concept piece following a mute protagonist who creates an imaginary world to escape his reality. Sonically, it is a landmark of the 'theatrical progressive metal' movement, characterized by its extreme density and the integration of non-metal genres like swing, chamber pop, and musical theater. The album was entirely self-produced and composed, showcasing a level of arrangement sophistication rarely seen in debut releases. Critics, including those at AllMusic, praised the band's ability to balance technical wizardry with genuine melodic sensibility, often comparing them to acts like Between the Buried and Me or Haken, but noting their unique 'musical theater' DNA. Despite its critical success and cult following, the band went on an indefinite hiatus shortly after, leaving this as a standalone masterpiece of the genre.
