Rebirth

Released in 2001, Rebirth serves as a pivotal 'phoenix' moment for Angra. After the departure of three founding members, guitarists Kiko Loureiro and Rafael Bittencourt recruited vocalist Edu Falaschi, bassist Felipe Andreoli, and drummer Aquiles Priester to redefine the band's sound. The result is a more melodic and symphonic take on their signature power-prog style. The album is notable for its 'Nova Era' (New Era) theme, which reflected both the band's internal state and a broader turn-of-the-millennium optimism. Sonically, it integrates Brazilian regional influences - most notably on 'Unholy Wars' - with European neoclassical structures. Critics often highlight the album's production quality and Falaschi's ability to step into the massive shoes of his predecessor, Andre Matos, while bringing a warmer, more accessible tone to the high-register vocals. It remains one of the most successful and beloved releases in the Brazilian metal canon.
