Remix & Repent

Released in late 1997, Remix & Repent functions as a transitional artifact and a victory lap for the Antichrist Superstar cycle. It is structured in three distinct movements: industrial dance remixes by Danny Lohner and the band, high-intensity live tracks from the Dead to the World tour, and a rare acoustic studio recording. The remixes, particularly 'The Horrible People,' lean heavily into the glitch-heavy, sample-based production styles popularized by Nine Inch Nails, while the live tracks ('Antichrist Superstar' and 'Dried Up, Tied and Dead to the World') showcase the band's transition into a formidable arena-rock act. The inclusion of an acoustic 'Man That You Fear' was a significant departure at the time, hinting at the more somber, melodic songwriting that would later surface on Mechanical Animals. Critics generally viewed the EP as a solid stop-gap release that successfully captured the band's dual identity as both studio experimentalists and theatrical live performers.
