Resistance, released in 2013, represents Winds of Plague's fourth full-length effort and a refinement of their 'symphonic deathcore' blueprint. Produced by Will Putney, the album benefits from his signature punchy, clear production style, which helps define the separation between the orchestral keys and the percussive guitar work. While the band's earlier work leaned more heavily into pure symphonic black metal influences, Resistance incorporates a stronger 'tough-guy' hardcore aesthetic, particularly in the vocal delivery and lyrical themes of resilience and street-level defiance. The album features a more streamlined songwriting approach than its predecessor, Against the World, focusing on shorter, high-impact tracks like 'Sewer Mouth' and 'United Through Hatred.'
