Retribution

Retribution, released in 2014, represents Ektomorf at their most refined and aggressive. Produced by the legendary Tue Madsen, the album features the signature 'Antfarm' sound: ultra-compressed, punchy, and modern. While the band has always been compared to Soulfly or Sepultura due to their tribal groove elements, Retribution leans harder into the hardcore punk and thrash influences, resulting in shorter, more explosive track lengths. The album is a significant entry in their discography for its lyrical focus on Roma identity and social struggle, particularly evident in tracks like 'Ten Plagues'. Musically, it is characterized by Zoltán Farkas's percussive vocal style and the band's use of extremely low tunings. The inclusion of 'Whisper' as a nearly six-minute closer provides a rare experimental departure from their standard high-energy template, showcasing a more atmospheric, brooding side of the band.
