Return to the Apocalyptic City

Released in 1993, Return to the Apocalyptic City is a transitional EP that captures Testament at a crossroads. The bulk of the release consists of live tracks recorded at the Los Angeles Palladium, showcasing the band's formidable stage presence and Chuck Billy's evolving vocal style, which began to incorporate the guttural 'death growl' elements that would define their mid-90s output. The EP is historically significant for including 'Reign of Terror', a fan-favorite outtake from the 1988 'The New Order' sessions that had previously only been available on B-sides or bootlegs. The closing track, a single edit of 'Return to Serenity', represents the band's flirtation with mainstream rock radio during 'The Ritual' era.
