Following their debut 'Cranial Impalement', Disgorge refined their approach to extremity by further obscuring the vocals into a percussive, 'gurgling' texture that eschews traditional enunciation. The album features guest vocals from Erik Lindmark of Deeds of Flesh, signaling the tight-knit nature of the era's extreme metal community. Despite contemporary critical dismissal from outlets like AllMusic, which criticized its lack of technical polish, the album became a cult classic for the exact qualities it was panned for: its murky production, suffocating atmosphere, and rejection of traditional death metal speed in favor of crushing, mid-tempo slams.
