Songs for Our Mothers

Released in 2016, Songs for Our Mothers is the second studio album by Fat White Family and represents a significant pivot from the scuzzy garage-rock of Champagne Holocaust. Recorded during a period of internal band strife and heavy drug use, the album reflects that chaos through a shift toward electronic experimentation and 'sludge-disco.' The record was largely produced by the band themselves alongside Liam D. May, resulting in a sound that is intentionally thin, murky, and abrasive. It features themes of fascism, domestic misery, and addiction, most notably on tracks like 'Tinfoil Deathstar' and 'Whitest Boy on the Beach.'
