Structures of Death

Released in 2007, Structures of Death represents a pivotal moment in Fleshcrawl's discography as their eighth studio outing. Notably, it was the first album the band recorded outside of Sweden, opting for Studio Toninfusion in Ulm, Germany, though they maintained their sonic roots by returning to Studio Underground in Sweden for mixing and mastering by Pelle Saether. This geographical split resulted in a production that feels slightly more 'German' in its rhythmic tightness while preserving the 'Swedish' guitar filth they are known for. The album is the sole appearance of bassist Nico Scheffler, adding a unique chapter to the band's lineup history. While largely staying true to their established death metal formula, the inclusion of a cover of The Four Horsemen's 'Rockin' Is My Business' showcases a rare glimpse into the band's rock and roll influences, providing a high-energy, groovier finale to an otherwise grim and relentless record. It stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of the HM-2 sound in the late 2000s.
