Released in 2001 on the seminal BPitch Control label, Superimpose stands as Paul Kalkbrenner's debut full-length and a foundational text for the Berlin minimal techno scene. At a time when techno was often characterized by high-BPM aggression or lush trance influences, Kalkbrenner opted for a stripped-back, glitch-influenced aesthetic. The album is notable for its use of 'clicks and cuts' production techniques, where digital artifacts and micro-percussion form the rhythmic backbone.
