The Fleet Foxes

Released in 2006, the self-titled EP (often referred to as 'The Fleet Foxes EP') is the debut release by the Seattle-based band. Recorded primarily in Robin Pecknold's parents' basement and producer Phil Ek's home studio, the EP represents the band's transition from a more straightforward indie-pop outfit into the baroque, harmony-drenched folk powerhouse they would soon become. Unlike the pristine, cavernous reverb of their 2008 self-titled LP, this EP features a punchier, more rhythm-driven sound, heavily influenced by 1960s pop and classic folk rock. The arrangements feature prominent acoustic guitars, vintage keys, and early iterations of the multi-part vocal harmonies that would become their trademark.
