The Paradigm Shift

Released in 2013, The Paradigm Shift serves as a pivotal moment in Korn's discography, primarily due to the return of founding guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch after an eight-year hiatus. Produced by Don Gilmore, known for his work with Linkin Park, the album intentionally moves away from the pure dubstep experimentation of its predecessor, The Path of Totality, while still retaining electronic and industrial elements. The songwriting process aimed to bridge the atmospheric darkness of Issues with the high-production heaviness of Untouchables. Tracks like 'Never Never' showcased a more melodic, synth-pop influenced side of the band, while 'Prey for Me' and 'Love & Meth' leaned into the classic dual-guitar attack that defined their early success.
