Digimortal serves as the concluding chapter of the conceptual trilogy started with Demanufacture and Obsolete. Produced by Rhys Fulber, the album saw Fear Factory streamlining their sound for a more direct, hook-oriented approach, reflecting the shifting landscape of heavy music in the early 2000s. Despite the band's initial claims that it wouldn't be a concept record, it ultimately followed the narrative of the 'Digimortal' - a hybrid of human and machine. The recording process was marked by internal tensions, as guitarist Dino Cazares and vocalist Burton C.
