Tongue in Chic

Following the 'Disco Sucks' backlash, Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards moved toward a more stripped-back, funk-oriented sound that anticipated the coming wave of 80s R&B. The album features the minor hit 'Hangin',' which showcases the band's ability to blend street-level banter with high-concept musicianship. Despite its lower chart performance compared to 'C'est Chic' or 'Risqué,' the album is highly regarded by funk purists for its exceptional production quality and the sheer tightness of the rhythm section. It was one of two major projects the duo produced in 1982, alongside the 'Soup for One' soundtrack, further cementing their status as the premier architects of the era's dance music.
