Waiting for the Punchline

Waiting for the Punchline represents Extreme's final statement of their original era, released during the height of the grunge movement. Produced by Bob St. John and Nuno Bettencourt, the album is a radical departure from the maximalist, Queen-influenced production of 'III Sides to Every Story'. It features a 'live in the studio' aesthetic with minimal overdubs, resulting in a dry, punchy sound that highlights Mike Mangini's technical drumming and Pat Badger's prominent bass.
